The Desert of the Long Death. The long death is what happens when you try to cross this wasteland that lies at the heart of Lupa Sungai. The desert lies in the rain shadow of Kalabar Pass, and two mountain ranges. No rain ever reaches the land here, evaporating long before it touches the ground. The only moisture is from melt water from the surrounding mountains, which feed rivers that surround this desert. Only 1 river actually attempts to make it across the wastes, and it does so 2/3rds of the way towards the eastern end. All other streams and rivers instead opt to skirt the edges of the desert and terminate in Mati Manusia Rawa.
The Far eastern end of this desert ends in the salt flats that precede Mati Manusia Rawa The middle section of the desert is covered in dunes, and the there is no permanent landmarks. The Western third of the desert is more rocky, but still only has outcroppings of stone that tower above the surrounding desert.
Scattered oasis are present in portions of the desert, but they aren’t close enough together to make any practical caravan route, or if there is a route, it is unknown. The only safe place for a caravan to cross without magical support is along the single river that make it across the desert.
